There are lots of abbreviations like that. Specially when on Nintendo side of things. AC - Assassin’s Creed or Animal Crossing. MK - Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat. A general one is DS - Dark Souls and Death Stranding.
Some of these might just be me. For instance Dark Souls and Death Stranding both are on my list to play soon, so I mention it with friends and we use DS for both of them, so can be confusing sometimes.

I think age plays a lot into whether gamers mean Team Fortress or Titanfall. For me TF will always be Team Fortress, but PLENTY of gamers use it for Titanfall too.

Titan fall 1 has dead servers as far as I remember and 2 was single player only.
So most likely people are talking about Team Fortress.
