  • but they ended up controlling everything anyway

Republicans have been completely aligned since Trump came into office. Democrats instead have had spoiler candidates that have almost completely ruined their plans in the Biden Admin.

We should be focused on primary-ing out the moderates and establishment candidates in the party. Yes the DNC always has the ability to shut shit down as they did in 2016 with Bernie, but if the movement is strong enough, I wager that won’t matter.

    chose not do do it

Bernie got snubbed by the DNC in 2016??? Hello?

And Biden capitulated to Bernie in 2020 by adopting his policies, only later abandoning them like an asshole.

Bernie has rarely chosen at any point NOT to change the system.

  • THESE are the Democrats that should be uprooted from the party and replaced with candidates that actually represent their voter base.

The fact that Dems has this many spoilers shows you that they aren’t really beating the controlled opposition claims.

We need a Democratic Party that fights back. Not one that caves to evil.

THIS is why many people on Lemmy are disillusioned by Democrats. Dems had only positive outcomes for themselves by letting the shutdown continue. They could have waited while Trump fucks the citizenry more and more, deepening their political capital for 2026.

Instead, all of the Dems who aren’t facing re-election next year, or have re-election in 2028 or 2030 voted to end the shutdown. These Dems have no opportunity loss for voting this way. Un-fucking-believable

Rights are a human construct. They don’t exist in nature.

When we fight to construct them, we must fight to keep them. In a representative democracy, our representatives are the ones who are supposed to fight for us. But when they fail, that responsibility falls back to the average, everyday, common person.

The struggle to keep our rights moreso has to do with getting people off the couch to stand up for what they believe in. In an apathetic society glued to their toys and treats, their bread and circuses, it’s that much easier for other humans with wishes to collect their own power to dismantle that of the majority.

  • Good. We’re tired of billionaires hoarding OUR wealth, the wealth WE created, as well as the politicians paid by and for those same billionaires rigging the system on their behalf.

As any Marxist-Leninist knows though, the best time to strike the revolution is after you’ve gained the support of the public and elucidated class consciousness. We need more Leftists in political power first spreading the message of class warfare before we get there.

Because otherwise this “revolution” will be entirely selfish and unorganized and will make it harder to get anything accomplished.
