There was no warning given because they just started bombing right away. They didnt even give anyone a chance to leave.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Can the government decrypt your WhatsApp chats?English
9·2 years agoNo. They cant decrypt your chats. They can however backdoor your device and see the pre or post delivery message. Its not hard for them to do. Technically or legally.
If they arent currently logging activity on your device then turning on self destruct messaging could mitigate their ability to spy on you. Unfortunately all your chat partners have to do it too.

12·2 years agoit would have to be on rails. Sure, buses have fewer wheels per passenger but they are also heavier so go through their tyres much faster. Its probably still a net benefit but it doesnt eliminate the problem.

11·2 years ago“Everyone who disagrees with me is Sealioning!” Its a ridiculous concept and i take exception to the suggestion that we are debate nerds, or civil. What evidence does anyone ever present in an internet debate beyond a news article or a wikipedia entry? Its become apparent that the people who write in those mediums are no more diligent with their research than anyone else. There are no consequences for laziness. Reputations no longer mean anything to media firms. They have monopoly power, they can print rubbish and continue to hold their audience. To truly examine any evidence requires questioning all assumptions and no one who spends their time arguing with strangers on the internet is going to be that committed. Apparently asking for evidence and and pointing out its flaws makes you a troll.

4·2 years agoNo the problem is that governments arent legislating standards and are letting australia be used as a dumping ground for models that cant be sold elsewhere.
As the article mentions people are getting tax breaks to buy these things and then not using them for work. They’re buying dual cabs to take their kids to school and go mudding. Not to visit work sites. The vast majority of these tradies could make do with a van and a trailer. Their tools would be more secure and they’d have more space for hauling. But tradies arent buying these things. People who want to look like tradies are.
It also mentions that they’ve caused an increase in morbidity and mortality on the roads. To get a motorbike license i had to take 2 day courses and tests and also do logged supervised hours. This is apparently necessary even though the only person i’m likely to hurt on a bike is myself. People driving these light trucks dont have to get any special licenses or training at all.
