I’m talking about the dictionary definition of liberalism. Real implementations of ideologies ofc will diverge from the definitions. Again, the part of my comment about how liberalism isn’t compatible with democracy and how liberalism is also defined by democracy should tell you a bit about why liberalism isn’t always as good as the ideal :P

Additionally liberalism is a broader definition and there are more specific versions of it as well. A liberal party might not specifically claim to be a specific kind of liberalism, but they are likely not the most general version

Also! Liberalism varies from country to country. I’m not american and liberalism here is different from your liberalism. That should also be noted. It’s a just as flawed ideology here mind you, but they aren’t putting people in camps (but they are perfectly willing to work with the populists ofc).

Liberalism is not synonymous with democracy and refers to a democratic government that isn’t too powerful, doesn’t decide too much what people may or may not do (religious freedom, socially liberal, free speech, etc), has open borders, and a very free capitalist market (only minimal involvement by the government to ensure no monopolies). It should be more or less something like this, it’s been a while since I last checked the definitions.

In a leftist context the criticisms against liberalism are usually aimed at the capitalist aspects of liberalism while conservatives are opposed to the socially liberal parts (and any part that is supposed to counteract corruption). Leftists in general dislike liberalism and feel it ultimately ends in fascism because of the incentives and structures in capitalist societies. The main goal in captitalism after all is greed; that the few should amass wealth and property via exploiting others. Monopolization and hierarchies is built into capitalism at its very core and we consider this to not be compatible with democracy (at the very least in the long run).

There are more criticisms and I’m sure others are better at explaining them, but the main thing is that we don’t believe liberalism is capable of implementing true lasting democracy, and that when it temporarily does it’s at the expense of people elsewhere.

In addition to all of us responding differently we also take HRT differently. I take enanthate injections every week and so at the end of the week I don’t feel much of a low because my levels are very stable. Would I feel a relief if I took HRT orally or transdermally and therefore had more swingy levels? Maybe. Maybe not. I certainly remember noticing changes more easily back when I did gel, but it was also early on in my transition and so perhaps things have changed now.

We have all the parts needed to experience menstruation, just less of some of the tissues involved, so typically we experience weaker or even not noticeable periods. Some trans women do have very strong periods including period shits, cramps, and large mood swings. It’s also possible that how we take HRT affects how noticeable the period is. I’ts not well studied for obvious reasons.

Also, all the different ways of taking HRT have different half lives which is why you feel better or worse when low. Often doctors prescribe people valerate for injections but put people on on a 7 day injection cycle when the half life is 4.5 days, and don’t give people a high enough dose for them to have comfortable levels on day 6 and 7. Ideally valerate is instead taken every 5 days to avoid a very large dose and to avoid the 2 days of being too low.

With gel and pills the half life is very short and so you can notice the same day if you are a few hours late, but blockers will change the experience a lot ofc.

ADHD and other neurodivergencies are neither binary nor a simple scale + we have different personalities and circumstances, so there are people that qualify as having ADHD yet manage it very well or have lives that mesh really well with their brand of ADHD by pure chance.

Some of these people think since it’s easy for them to manage it must be easy for everyone, and some sympathize and understand they have it (compared to us) easy.

It’s frustrating to have a genuine disability and not be believed because it’s not visible and obvious, and doubly so when it’s someone you think should get it.

I’ve met one person I didn’t believe had ADHD yet he thought for sure he did. He kept asking me and my other ADHD friend why we didn’t simply do this or that whenever we mentioned we struggled with something. He did later turn out to have another neurodivergency which made much more sense to me, but it’s also important to note that not all symptoms are gonna be in the part of someones life that you are witness to.
