Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•A secret is something you keep, whilst a surprise is something you give.
2·3 months agoOh I love this distinction. I’ve always taught my kid that grown ups should never ask them to keep a secret, (specifically grown ups because part of growing up is having harmless secrets between friends and I didn’t want them to have a complex about that, but at the same time I think it’s important to teach what’s appropriate at a young age for their protection) but I always struggled with how to distinguish a good secret (like a surprise) from a ‘bad’ secret without making things confusing. This sums it up perfectly!
Yeah I’d agree it’s an Osprey. Crop the trees out at the bottom, keep the bird dead centre and
nudge the exposure and contrast very slightly andyou’ve got a cracking shot!Edit: had the brightness turned down on my phone 🤦🏻♂️
They don’t think we’re incompetent cats. They know we’re incompetent humans.

11·4 months agoCongratulations! Seems like you’re well on course to getting your grandfathers license, but if I may offer some minor critique, you didn’t comment on how much I’ve grown and I believe taffy should be involved somewhere along the line. Other than that, excellent grandfathering!

74·4 months agoOMG thank you, I hate them and get so vilified for it. I might have deemed them mediocre had each one been at least half an hour shorter but as it is they’re just a Peter Jackson wankathon.
Full disclosure fwiw:
- I’m generally not into fantasy
- I (almost but not quite) equally hate action films / sequences
- More of a hard sci-fi fan, though I’ll generally enjoy anything harder than Star Wars (also hate)

42·5 months agoYeah I’ve looked a bit harder and I see the spider shape a bit better now (from underneath), the slight motion blur in places would suggest not AI but I’m not totally convinced. From a quick search these spiders aren’t that big so that must be a very baby turtle, and I don’t know what’s going on around the mouth but it doesn’t look right, nor does the interference pattern of the ripples.
Agreeing with me would make a lot of people a lot more comfortable 😅

Right?!
…it is though - the ripples make no sense, nor does the ant-spider in size or shape.
