This has always been the point.
It has never been about which restroom trans people use, it was always been about being able to harass and vilify trans people.
The right doesn’t want to just enforce gender binary, they want to erase anything and anyone that falls outside it.
Once again, the point is to harass trans people out of public life altogether.
This isn’t about logic or fear, it’s hate and domineering. They’re nazis. No excuses.
Don’t expect any logic from regressives. What they want is not for trans people to use a specific bathroom. They want all trans people dead.

I suspect it is because as other commentors mention is this poses risks for Trans people outing themselves. I see gender neutral bathrooms regularly at events and not just 1 stall either. So I hardly consider this a controversial take especially when the existing rules lead to jail time if you follow or dont follow it.

Also … what the fuck are people doing to get gender checked and arrested? There is no law about obeying the gender sign (at least not in my state or any state I have been in). Is walking into the wrong bathroom a crime or something?
It has increasing been made a crime in various states to various degrees. See the woman who was arrested in the Florida statehouse and the college bathroom ban in Ohio.
