My blood pressure goes through the roof when I play Dead by Daylight and go up against a toxic killer.

Similarly, it goes through the roof when I see a Trump flag up at my neighbor’s house.

My blood pressure ain’t doin’ so well these days.

On top of that, you have any idea how hard it is to stay under the advised daily value of sodium? It’s less than a teaspoon! Tortilla? 20% of your sodium. Bagel? 20%. Any veggie patty substitute? Vegetable bouillon? Tamari or soy sauce?

Ye gods man I’m gonna burst!

…exercise I got on lock tho, so that’s nice.

…and don’t tell me to stop playing Dead by Daylight. It’s the only multiplayer game I can play where I have more than a coin toss’s chance of winning.

…though maybe I should just switch to something chill like an mmo 😔

Gah, do I feel this. One of the reasons I really like my new neighborhood is that I never see any of those fucking flags. I see Ukraine flags, Palestine flags, rainbow flags, and signs that say “Black Lives Matter” and “Fascists not welcome.” A walk around the neighborhood makes me happier now than it did when I lived in the suburbs, even though my mom worries about me being in the sCaRy CiTy.

One glance around, and I know my neighbors are all right. I’m home.

tbf the Trump neighbor is flanked on all sides by LGBTQ+ and other progressive flags, he’s just very loud about his with a flag pole and everything. It’s the burbs of PDX, so it’s a little purple, but not by much.

The recommended levels of sodium are trash, newer evidence is showing that 2000mg is perfectly fine. More if you sweat

It’s fine for me, with a much lower blood pressure. I actually require separate salt intake sometimes (apart from the salt I add when cooking), if I am cycling for a little longer.

Not sure who downvoted you, I drink at least 2000mg supplemental sodium daily, more if I’m sweating. When I go out for a big day I’ll go through 3 liquid IV and as many bottles of plain water.

            Not sure who downvoted you,

            Noone did.

While my supplemental sodium is less than 2g, my overall Sodium intake is easily more than that.
I add enough salt to my food that it enhances the taste of whatever is being cooked. Specially, the diced tomato stays with ~ 0.5g of salt for the ~15 minutes it is kept before adding it to the pan. Then if I am going out and cycling a bit, depending upon my level of fatigue, I might use 1/2 a packet of ORS at a time, with a max total of 1.5 whole packets (and that is pushing it) if I am needing it more than once a day. If I need more, I go with lemonade with black-salt.

well my blood pressure is a little high and I’m trying to get it back down to healthy levels ‘cause I’d rather not let it get away from me.

I’m also trying to get back into mediation, but it’s just so boring.

Try reframing what constitutes toxicity in DBD. I know it really helped me when i started voice acting as the killer with a goofy voice. I don’t know what you consider toxic, but some suggestions: killer voice being all lovey-dovey when hitting on hook and face camping, celebratory like a kid someone let win in cards when ground humping, “excuse me maam, you dropped your wallet, hello hello, excuse me!” increasingly desperately when tunneling, etc.

And close end game chat before reading it.

        That’s a great suggestion, thanks.

My other option has been to play as the killer, which to me is much less upsetting because it feels like I’m in charge of the experience. Sure there can be toxic survivors, but they’re much more ignorable, and I’m good enough at the game without having to tunnel or camp that they rarely complain when I win.

…plus uh, I play a lot and I take notes on the toxic ones, so I know what to expect and how to treat them.

No, but they’re on my wishlist.

I like multiplayer games where I’m playing with strangers and maybe some competition. My buddies are trying to get me into Arc Raiders, so I might try that.

If I could just play Skyrim or something like it and there be a 2% chance of running into someone— but the game doesn’t tell me a stranger has joined— I think that’d do it for me.

I was fortunate enough to play Journey on launch day and that’s bar none my most treasured multiplayer memory.
