I think I’ve got maybe 4 or 5 twins over my life (37m) how did this happen?

Did you put them in a pan or did you make the mistake of putting them in a oven

It’s more common in hens that are either just beginning to lay or just at the end of their fertility. Maybe this producer is just starting up with new hens? Leghorns are also more likely to have double yolks and they lay white eggs.

Did you buy a carton where they’re all double yolks? Some places do sell those

Or did you just crack six eggs into a pan for fake internet points?

When did I become so cynical and untrusting?

I used to buy flats of 2.5 dozen eggs at a time from a little roadside stand. All of them were double yolk, sometimes triple. These would have been rejects from egg producers. As far as I know, the reason you don’t typically get them in the supermarket is because they shine a light through the eggs during processing to check for this and remove the ones they find.

I’ve not had one in years. I’m sure I read or heard something about them shining light through eggs now to see if they’re double yolkers and then they separate them.

    Also possible I imagined that…
