    The dog photographed in the article - Millie the Maltese shih tzu - was bashed with a metal pole by Mark Martinaj for 5 minutes and has since disappeared, presumed killed. He successfully appealed his jail sentence and got off with a community corrections order.

    What is it with the Vic Govt and defenceless animals? They have culled thousands of wombats and koalas (shooting koalas from helicopters) too. Then there’s the duck shooting season. Then there’s the kangaroo ‘harvesting’ (over 100,000 last year). Appalling.
