FWIW if anyone was still wondering if they’d do anything to fix the reported cliffhanger SFA is going to end on, or if there was a chance in hell that Year One would be a thing.

Fuck you, Ellison and Paramount. I’d rather watch the franchise die than turn into fanfic for fascists anyway.

There’s certainly a lot of pressure to move productions back to California right now.

Then again, they do own (one of) the buildings in Toronto, and Canada isn’t likely stop being an attractive place to make sci-fi any time soon.

The bigger question is likely the “if it happens” bit.

Paramount and Warner Brothers both have large studio backlots in the LA area. One wonders whether there’ll be consolidation there.

The Mississauga CBS Stages is a relatively modest venue. The biggest SFA sets were at Pinewood Toronto and the AR wall shared with Pixemondo — which is itself being organizationally deconstructed.

Also, there are incentives being offered by other US states such as Georgia, where Disney does much of its production. Moving back to the US may not necessarily mean California.

Anyway, it’s not particularly hopeful news for the industry overall especially in Toronto and Vancouver.

Well, thank Space Abraham Lincoln and the Hand of Apollo they aren’t going to go forward with the SNW timeline. They haven’t done anything interesting with the Pike crew, can’t see how they’ll fare better with mysteriously fit Kirk in the chair.

I will miss the SFA seasons that will never happen, though, but look forward to the second season. There was so much to build on from the first one, but instead those gorgeous sets are demolished.
