I quit after two days and never looked back.

People seemed to have no trouble dropping Gaiman after his horrendous behavior came to light, but even suggest people drop their beloved nostalgia books and it’s all “but my blorbo! JK bad I guess, but I like my blorbo!”.

The sad part is that the HP-verse is so clearly not for us – that is, not for anyone besides straight white liberal Christians. The stereotypes, the handwaves, the defense of the status quo. But people choose to engage with and perpetuate this media anyway.

People would rather just enjoy the blorbo than take a stand against what it represents/supports. Comfort is “easier” than tension.

The fact that they’re more concerned with being able to spout off harmful words than they are about the actual wellbeing of people says it all. They hate consequences because they know exactly what the consequences of their actions should be. Never concerned with giving others the same legitimacy they whinge about getting; only about taking it away.

It’s not hard to be decent, although some people decide to make it look like an impossible task. As far as I’m concerned, hate speech is not free speech…

Not at all. My issue was with the portrayal of the characters themselves – so vapid, touchy-feely, and simply stereotypical of the “theater gay” trope. Plus, after all her opining, whatshername was right about that guy’s orientation.

Also, I found the theater material a bit, uhh… it felt to me like a Rocky Horror parody written by an adolescent person. Yes we’re all singing “I love willies” because that’s what being gay is about, yahaha.

I remember IT Crowd as having some really funny moments back when I watched it, but also being very hit or miss. Looking back, the episodes with the theater gays and the trans woman were… deeply unfortunate. Also it turned out Graham whatshisface is a full-time transphobe. So it’s consigned to the trash bin for me.

BBT, I never saw more than a few episodes and what I did see was very bland tbh.
