That situation is the most I’ve ever been involved in internet lore. My partner showed me a Reddit post of a jackdaw where the top comment was Unidan calling it a crow (pretending to be an authority on it as he usually did) and I told her to correct him (in a friendly way) because jackdaws are one of my favourite birds and I want people to know what they are. This was only a few weeks before he had his meltdown over the subject.
Kind of funny to know that it bothered him enough that he would implode his entire internet persona over it.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•I went to the UK last week. Nothing about my trip was legal.English
1·4 months agoWent over with my partner who is from England whose British passport had run out. The option if you’re a citizen is to either get a new passport delivered which will take months, get a proof of residence which costs £600 and takes 8 weeks or lie about not having any other nationalities in the ETA (UK is not available since only non-citizens are supposed to apply). When she asked the embassy they basically just shrugged their shoulders.
Worked to apply for the ETA but their current rules are a clusterfuck.
I usually do a double take thinking they’re a bumblebee before noticing that they move different when I spot them.

Global News@lemmy.zip•Sweden says China denied request for prosecutors to board ship linked to severed cablesEnglish
11·1 year agoThe ship did damage a pipeline and a fibre optic cable by dragging their anchor for no reason in the middle of the sea. Most of the investigation is against the company and the ship in particular, not China as a whole. They need to look over their routines if nothing else.
It isn’t like nothing has happened, and China has been cooperating with the investigation.
You see, the Russians are the reason that they were forced to (volunteered) to ethnically cleanse Jews and Poles. If Stalin hadn’t eaten all the grain with his big spoon this would simply have been a proud Ukrainian Patriot.
Had someone break a front window of my work vehicle to steal the instruction manual. Have no idea why they didn’t just smash the back windows and go for the tools instead.
Wasn’t too much of an issue other than cleaning up the glass as it was going into the body shop anyways, but it was confusing. Another confusing thing is that there was a Bugatti in the same parking lot, and they went for the banged up work vehicle instead.

World News@lemmygrad.ml•Old enough to remember when saying “Ukraine can’t win. They should negotiate peace” was a Russian talking point.English
71·2 years agoBut what would they gain from dragging it out if they can reach their objectives through an earlier peace?
This isn’t a Paradox game, Russia isn’t about to annex all of Ukraine when they get 100% warscore.

10·2 years agoYes, that too. He also was one of the most prominent slave traders of the time and put down the Spartacus revolt.
Trying to find the silver lining here.

I agree that the turn on a dime from acknowledging that there are nazis in Ukraine to now calling anyone that points out that it is a problem a stooge of Putin is fairly remarkable.

They were the less successful US pet project after Japan. There is a reason that a whole lot of their media is about how capitalism sucks and that they are the heaviest drinkers in the world.

It isn’t all industrial agriculture. There is also the enclosure of the commons meaning that foraging is illegal in a lot of places.
