I am employed by a major Tier 1 electronics supplier to multiple car manufactures. Your question has NOTHING to do with EV’s - we sell the exact same ADAS components for use in EV’s, ICE, and hybrid cars & trucks.

But to answer your question . . . nothing is 100% hacker proof. All modern cars (ICE, EV’s, hybrid) cars could be hacked . . and any of them with an advanced ADAS system could be modified as you describe to “frame the driver”.

  • I am all for this. Once built, the first people tossed into this new British gulag should include Zia Yusuf, his entire extended family and Kirsten Farage - Nigel’s German wife. Oh and his kids . . as they are only “half brits”.

In the second wave, we should use the electrical register to round up all the members of Reform UK itself. After the half-brits, next should be the half-wits.

And after that . . all the Brexit voters??

First they came for the Communists . . . (the /s should be obvious, but I’ll include it just for clarity)

  • Clearly the writer is a firm believer in TINA (there is no alternative). I am old enough and lucky enough to have witnessed one alternative in person. I was able to visit the USSR in the 1980’s and work in Moscow in the 1990’s. This not a plug for Soviet style Communism, just an observation on (then) Muscovites’ daily lives. As the expression went “we pretend to work, they pretend to pay us”, their job did not define their life. Far from it. Prior to the collapse, their lives were defined largely by their clubs, their sports, their after-work activities. Chess clubs, photography clubs, knitting clubs, running clubs, . . . there were clubs for EVERY activity you can think of. If you asked “so what you do” . . . the answer was almost always a list of these activities . . .not their “job”.

Sure UBI might turn some people into stay at home, 24/7 web surfing, X Box playing hermits. But humans do have a strong social drive . .and I suspect after the novelty of not NEEDING to work wore off . . . an explosion of social activities would follow.
