Gravity’s Rainbow was a tough read. Took me about two months to complete it, and that’s with the help of the companion wiki and a few chapter summaries whenever I didn’t understand a single sentence no matter how hard I tried.

From the getgo, and even before its inception, Israel was designed to be a setller colonial project, resting on the myth that "no one occupies these lands” just like the United States, the British empire, Spain and Portugal justified conquering the entire American continent and massacring its native population to replace it with their own.

Unfortunately when people criticize socialist countries for the lack of “free speech,” even if with good intentions, they are usually parroting the talking points of Western, bourgeois media and only serves as to justify imperialist intervention against them.
These criticisms however derive from an ignorance of the way politics work in such countries whose only perception comes from behind the iron curtain and only through the lens of fascist and capitalist media.
In historically socialist countries, democracy had always been principally practiced on the local and communal stages, where individuals had the most capacity to take decisions regarding their daily lives and the situation of their neighbourhood, locality or commune. Communism has always been the ideal. However, we have to take into account that we do not live in a bubble insulated from everyone else. We are facing the real, global and continuous threat of imperialist invasion by the capitalist forces. See Cuba and Venezuela, for instance.
It’s really hard to not be an ultra-militaristic society when the CIA and the enemies of the proletariat are always lurking in the shadows and looking for any miniscule gap to breach socialist countries from within. Regardless, we need to diffuse a proletarian, anti-bourgeois culture among the masses in order to inhibit the possibilities of foreign intervention.
Decades of sanctioning and warmongering by the US and its allies has kept a small country like the DPRK on the defensive, which isn’t ideal if you want a thriving nation, regardless of its ideology.
FYI, Machado is a far-right plant who’s championing the sanctions and US intervention in her country and every other nation that opposes imperialism. Notwithstanding her vocal and active support for far-right parties in Europe and LatAm.

1·2 months agoOnly through the proletarian revolution can we overthrow the capitalist mode of production, and so we should be diffusing social consciousness to the working class, and contribute to the mobilization of unions.
The human condition is dictated by the hegemonic system that is governing.
Monopoly™ the game is structually engineered so that players kill the competition and secure the entire board. Would playing by the game’s rules make me inherently a capitalist jerk? No, because they dictate my behaviour and not following them would put me outside the realm of the game (i.e. the system) resulting in my loss (decay).
If the capitalist system incentivizes me to outcompete others and hoard my wealth and, conversely, punishes me for my altruism; then, I am forced to play by the rules of such a system.
“Human nature” is much more complex to be reduced to just greed. This is what’s so cool about being humans, we are so malleable and can be many many things either at once or separately.
Edit: I want to give some concrete examples to what I’m saying. Initially, the Google leadership was skeptical about AI funding, because of privacy and environmental concerns. Yet, as rival competition grew they backpedaled because this would mean their spot as the strongest teck company would be usurped. The late hop into AI funding and development heavily impacted their prospects and they remain falling behind in this respect (source). Here, we have an exemplary case of how the system automatically punishes hood deeds and reinforces predatory and greedy acts.

I’m not saying it is actually benevolent per se, but that it is perceived or painted as such when in fact it is the complete opposite. There’s not much to disagree with, but I want you to be wary of what external intervention signifies most of the times in an imperialist global order.
