13·9 days agoI used to be like Steve. It took a lot of years until I looked back and realized my mindset probably made a lot of people feel like you do now. Didn’t start treatments or therapy until years into college. You can’t rush someone’s journey to improve, it goes at their pace. They’ll appreciate it if you take the time for yourself that you need, and welcome them into anywhere that you reasonably can. Even if they refuse every offer or sentiment, they’ll still know you were there for them, and it will matter.

5·16 days agoI only work one job, but the low income means without living with family I’d be homeless. I wish sanity got to be a part in breaking even each month…

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Do you think we should have an index of how ethical gaming companies are?English
10·23 days agoHell, why limit it to gaming? I mean I know this is posted to Gaming, but still. There could be a lot of benefit to a tech industry wide Public Shame Index with how utterly soulless some companies are getting. Though, it would be under constant pressure from the largest companies to call it slander or libel, whatever they’d try to say to the abuse contact email of whoever hosts it to get it taken down.

5·23 days agoYeah, the example repositories’ license files explicitly state:
Please note that the Survey Creator component is proprietary software and requires a developer license to be integrated and used in your own application.
If the Survey Creator component is the part everything else is using to make the magic happen, then it’s definitely not open source

131·1 month agoFinally, we’ve managed to shove crypto directly into social media interaction itself. If only there was some way to shove AI into it. Maybe add some NFT’s while you’re at it?
TomAwezome@lemmy.worldtoMental Health@lemmy.world•Has anyone else here experienced "cognitive entrapment"?English
191·2 months agoThose screenshots looks an awful lot like AI, be careful with that… AI has no problem letting people wallow in learned helplessness. Regardless, getting stuck in a rut is a real thing that most people go through, many times throughout life. The job market is abysmal right now, especially for the average individual. It’s almost effortless nowadays to be overqualified for the minimum wage work, and underqualified for work at a livable wage. And that’s without considering whether companies even want more employees…

2·2 months agothe user you advised that to uses lemmy as their personal venting diary, they’re a regular. people probably didn’t like the way you wrote it because they missed the latter word “just” in your post, misinterpreting the meaning entirely
Maybe skim this recent post? https://lemmy.world/post/43616899 Lot of folks chimed in about their opinions on many different wiki approaches, my takeaway was that Bookstack looked like something I’d wanna use in the future, but there’s a lot of stuff covered in there.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How bad of an idea is it to use computing HDDs in a DIY NAS?English
2·2 months agoI’ve got some Western Digital and Samsung HDDs I bought refurbished a while ago in a RAID10 configuration for 4 TB total. Recently setup backups to that and an SSD, the read/write speeds are slow but tolerable and I’m not doing anything that needs high throughput. For backups from multiple machines, it does the job and I make sure to upload the encrypted backups to remote storage once a month so if there’s any catastrophic data loss on my end it’s all recoverable.

5·3 months agoI love happy silly doggies :3 I miss the rescue my family had for over a decade, a few years back she got extremely tumorous malignant cancer and we had to put her down at the vet. :( Years later I still don’t want any more pets because I just don’t have the strength to have to eventually go through that again

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Remember Postal? In the last 48 hours publisher Running With Scissors has announced a new game, insulted fans, apologized, canceled the game, the studio making it denied wrongdoing & shut down anywayEnglish
14·5 months agoArticle seems kinda clickbaity, not sure about this Andy Chalk fella who wrote the piece.
So RWS caught wind that the devs of the next Postal game they were going to publish were using AI generated art, and then cut ties with the studio due to the community backlash? Sounds like they made the right choice. Maybe they shouldn’t have outsourced the development of the game…

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Linus Tech Tips “disappointed” Steam Machine won’t be priced like a console - DexertoEnglish
2·5 months agoAll consoles become outdated and can’t have their hardware upgraded, so it’s just another game console. Maybe they’re pulling from Nintendo’s playbook and intentionally shipping weaker hardware as part of their strategy. Plus, if developers target optimizing for the GabeCube’s specs, it would increase benefits for players across weak and strong PC hardware.
