91·1 year agoFelt this. I haven’t really ever felt proud of America. It was weird growing up with immigrant parents, proud of their new homeland, just for me to learn of all its atrocities across the world and be like: “y’all moved here for this? They murdered and raped your birth country!” I really want to be more optimistic and hopeful, it’s just so hard with everything going on and how overt the racists are these days.

These are not black and white capitalist or socialist systems. Each countries economy is different and more often than not a mix of economic ideologies. No pure capitalist economy exists, nor a pure socialist economy. Trying to argue that these are or are not problems with capitalism is a bit of a moot point because of that.
Human productivity has exponentially increased since the beginning of the industrial revolution. We produce far more food and clothing than can be consumed and there are more than enough homes for people to live in. Generic medicine can often be produced for pennies.
There is no reason that we as a society cannot guarantee at least a basic standard of living consisting of sustenance, a safe place to rest and relax, treatment for common ailments, etc.

21·2 years agoI’m aware, but that doesn’t negate my point. The tenant company still has to pay more in utilities and such to bring people back to the office. Whether they pay that cost for 10, 20, however many years is extraneous.

202·2 years agoJustifying the rental expense doesn’t really make sense, because they end up paying more in utilities in addition to the rent. If you’re still on the hook for a lease and have most employees WFH, just downsize when the lease ends or move everything remote if possible.
Seems like banks are worried about the loan holders defaulting and are pushing companies to bring employees back to bring up demand for commercial real estate?

Yeah I switched to LMDE a couple months ago and I plugged in my printer for the first time but long ago. I was worried it wouldn’t work at first but it started printing right away!
I remember a girl in middle school did something similar. Called me over to her friends and asked if I’d go out with her. They all laughed when my lonely ass said the expected.
Screw you, Tiffany.
Yeah every one of my Ethernet cables at home have that.

Would be so funny if it wasn’t real.
