Hello Chinese is a freemium app I’ve used extensively. I’m supposedly up to hsk1 and I’ve enjoyed it a lot and have learned a lot. It will still take me a long time, but I feel like it’s given me a foothold in pronunciation, vocab, hanzi, and that Im way more curious and excited to learn more. Would recommend.
Also pleco for an extensive dictionary/hanzi reference.

Kim Stanley Robinson is an ML? After reading Ministry for the Future I assumed he was a socdem. I did not like that book. It’s been a while since I read it, and from what I remember, it omitted a useful economic analysis and liberation struggle from confronting climate crisis which seemed totally idealistic to me.

I shelled out for a ZSA Moonlander and I can’t recommend it under any circumstances. It seems like it was designed by a tech bro, not someone with an understanding of anatomy. I unloaded it on eBay after a few months of worsening wrist pain.

I have friends who work in Fintech, at least one of whom considers themselves socialist. It’s been hard for me to reserve judgement of them considering a choice to work in a sector which I view to be on par with CIA etc in terms of producing bad social outcomes, with the presumption that they also understand the role of finance in capitalism.
Comrade, I come only with curiosity, no judgement, and honestly, I ask the following question only to better understand some people I know IRL; Would you be willing to describe your ideological relationship to your industry and your job? How do you reconcile the contradiction of directly developing the economic base of capitalism while presumably being a communist?
