You can get a double speed Sony USB floppy drive for something like 20 bucks. If nothing else you can store a backup of your password database and contacts on a floppy.

0·2 年前Do you find yourself using it, and what for?
I almost always find myself using a full arms’ span of cord, which for me is around 5.5 feet, so I generally carry two of that length, one wrapped up, and one in a loop with a diamond knot, which I find convenient in place of a carabiner.

1·2 年前I’ve previously had a problem with my server becoming unresponsive when running immich. It’s been a while, but I remember there being some kind of memory leak having to do with immich. It was in their GitHub issues and everything. On my system it would take about a day and a half and then ssh, along with everything else, would become unresponsive. Rebooting would fix it for a day and a half. I stopped running immich and it hasn’t happened since. I suppose you could try using a cron job to restart immich periodically and see if that resolves your problem.
I’ll have to look into that. I’m more worried about the sole separating from the upper, but if I wear through them first I’ll give it a shot.
Happened to see boot driers at the grocery store for 15 bucks. Bought them and now i’d say they’re a must. Wore my boots and put them on for 2 hours… they don’t smell anymore. They smelled when I out them on. My boots will now live on these when they’re not on my feet.
Seriously. I sought out boots I thought would last a long time and i’ve been seriously bummed because I can’t imagine keeping them when I can’t get them to stop smelling. I figured boot driers would only work preventatively, but they zapped the smell right away. If you intend to keep your boots for a long time, get some boot driers.
Thanks for mentioning this. I’ve had problems with boots because I seem to need zero drop. Otherwise I get pains in my arches after I’ve worn them.
I’ve settled on Lem’s, and while they’re great. The super wide toe box might be worth looking at for you. I’ve been really impressed with how durable they are, and they have a waterproof goretex lining, but the sole isn’t stitch down. Whenever the sole wears out I’ll probably try the Jim greens, because of the stitch down sole.

7·2 年前It’s also really tasty, and egg production is extremely well regulated in Japan, so there really isn’t a risk of raw eggs being dangerous to eat there. For people with their own chickens, this also isn’t a problem, as you’d likely know if your bird was sick.

2·2 年前I’ve read that best practice is to do a database dump, in addition to backing up all the data files. It’s my understanding that there’s a slight chance of corrupting something in the database if you don’t stop the service first, since something could be changed while you’re doing your backup.
The easiest solution for me, as well as for being able to just restore my files and start the service again somewhere else, is to stop, backup, and restart. It’s down for less than 5 minutes while i’m asleep. If I expected better uptime than that I wouldn’t be trying to self host.
Try pop. It’s basically Ubuntu without canonical’s nonsense.

3·2 年前FYI, if you run vaultwarden using docker compose with your data volume as a folder, all you have to do is bring it down for like 1minute, make a backup of the folders, and bring it back up. I use a cron script to do this nightly. When my vps host went out of business, I restored my docker folder to a new vps and was up and running again in a couple minutes. Also, you could easily restore it to a virtual machine, if you like. Docker with compose is extremely portable.
Wow, I have some friends this would drive literally insane. I’ll have to consider this carefully.

1·2 年前I interpret her interactions with Picard a little differently. He might think she’s a real pain in the ass, but I don’t think she’s actually being a sex pest, because they both know she knows there’s nothing there. He’s not going to be pressured into doing anything he’s not interested in, which is something she also knows, and they live in a world where that’s not OK anyway. It’s a game, and honestly, an extremely gifted and perceptive telepath could cause him any number of problems. This is a man whose experience with people being in his mind was from the Borg. She’s certainly found a way to come off as extremely harmless.
This and a boot dryer is probably the answer I was looking for.
See, the problem with this is that for several months out of the year i’d just have wet feet 24/7. After a couple weeks that’s just far too frustrating to deal with. Plenty of people wear sandals to deal with it. I’m autistic, and we generally fall into 2 camps: my feet need to be aired out all the time, or my feet will always be in socks because they can never touch the floor unless everything is perfectly clean and the floor is an appopriate texture. I’m unfortunately the second type, which is why I knit my own wool socks.
On top of that, if it’s raining when I get home, I have anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of water I have to get through. I’ve tried shoe covers. I’ve tried other styles of waterproof shoes. I’ve tried rubber boots, and they’re far too sweaty. This is by far the best solution i’ve come across, but at this point I can’t get the smell out, even if I want to get these boot dryers i’ve been recommended.
I’ll have to look at those. Might be what I need.
That’s a great suggesion. Unfortunately, I already wear either smart wool, or my own hand knit wool socks with these boots.
I’d be interested in how to keep them from getting stinky. I’ve got some very good, waterproof leather boots, but they get so musty. I’ve tried Lysol. I’ve tried Dr. Scholls powder spray. I’ve tried water with vinegar. I’ve changed insoles. Nothing helps. You’d think I slogged through a knee deep swamp and left them to dry inside a closed box, but no, I just wear them in Florida and leave them to dry out inside my house.
I thought I knew how to take care of boots, but I guess not. That’s apparently a huge part of keeping them for a long time.

2·2 年前Most of the predictions she makes in the books do come true, she’s just clueless about the context of any of it. I suspect dumbledore keeps her around in the castle because she does see from time to time. He’s likely more concerned with keeping others from hearing them than hearing them himself.

Without that last image for context, I would have assumed you stick the cork part into your butt and poop spaghetti out the other side.
