  • I agree, I think it’s all about affordability and ease of use. If they can sell them for a nice price (somewhere around the price of a PS5 pro) and they’re easy to use I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t sell. Hell, I might even buy one myself. I have a very old gaming pc (close to 10 years old now) and even though I’ve replaced some parts over the years (ram, GPU, storage), the core of it is still very outdated and it might almost be cheaper to switch to something like this then to upgrade my existing pc.

  • Go ahead and try but I think moving the dems back to their position during Obama’s presidency will take a mammoth effort by itself, let alone moving them to Mamdani levels of leftism. I would love to see it happen but the rot runs deep, especially at the top. There are so many dems that are heavily entrenched in their positions and as you can see, it only takes a few dems (9 if you include Schumer who most likely came up with this “deal”) to ruin the party holding out in hope of better things.

  • It’s also interesting when they say “I don’t watch the news or keep up with politics, it all doesn’t matter anyway” only to then complain when it does start to matter for them. I haven’t heard them about the whole healthcare price increases shenanigans yet but I’m sure it’ll hit them sometime soon. I agree that the news can be depressing at times but overall it’s better to be occassionally depressed on up-to-date on things then to be ignorant. I saw a video that perfectly illustrated this the other day, this one about Bernie Sanders visiting Virginia. So many people there were saying “Now that I’m actually listening to him he’s a really nice and sensible guy”. Drives me insane.

  • Most of the people I talked to about it when I visited my in-laws in Michigan a week ago were saying that they thought people on SNAP were people that couldn’t be bothered to work… So not everyone has gotten the message yet. Tbf their county is definitely a very red one but it still amazed me how sheltered they were from things. I somehow know more about US politics as a Dutchie then they do. They had no idea that most SNAP recipients are people working minimum wage jobs that can’t get by otherwise due to minimum wage being so little.

Hell, they didn’t even know what the no kings protest was about…

  • I fully agree with you. There’s a reason why people that are terminally online often have pretty extreme ideas.

It really feels like it’s getting more and more difficult to have a good discussion where you can disagree on something but still talk to each other about it. People are in their echo chambers and the dissonance of that to the opinion of someone else is so large that they can’t do anything but call it fake or wrong.

  • Or, get this: make it so people don’t take the car. Most of the accidents that involve serious injury or death involve cars or some other fast, motorized vehicle. Why not make more bike and pedestrian infrastructure? I also live in the Netherlands and even here I’d say there are very different approaches based on which city/town you’re in. I really wish they’d make my city more accessible with public transport, there are certain routes where taking public transport to another part of town takes almost 2-3 times as long as taking a car. Why is that? Why not fund public transport and non-motorized traffic infrastructure even more?
