The gross part is that she apparently considers 15 “the barely legal type”. I don’t know what the rules in the US are but 15? Are you for real?

Is there more of her anywhere? I tried to find it but I guess my searching skills are lacking…

But stuff keeps leaking. If they somehow manage to block the release of the files, eventually most of (if not all) the files will be leaked I think. There’s not much happening in the white house that doesn’t leak at this point.

It’s starting to sound like some republican senators are actually standing up to him at times. You can question their motivations but it’s something I guess. I hope the vote for the Epstein files makes it all the way to his desk and then he has no choice. Release them and have everyone read about how guilty he is, or not release them and have everyone know that he’s guilty and hiding his crimes.

Go ahead and try but I think moving the dems back to their position during Obama’s presidency will take a mammoth effort by itself, let alone moving them to Mamdani levels of leftism. I would love to see it happen but the rot runs deep, especially at the top. There are so many dems that are heavily entrenched in their positions and as you can see, it only takes a few dems (9 if you include Schumer who most likely came up with this “deal”) to ruin the party holding out in hope of better things.

The filibuster would’ve stayed anyway, there’s no way the republican senators were giving that up at this stage yet. Unlike the annoying orange, they will have to continue on for longer and will face the problems of getting rid of it and being a minority themselves at some point (hopefully). Most of the republican senators spoke out in support of it a week ago.

No but surely this time they’ll be reasonable, right guys? Let’s give them everything they want in good faith one more time, I’m sure it’ll be alright this time. At thjs point the dems are fully complicit to whatever this government does imo.

Perhaps. Or he could rally a whole bunch of the republican voters to vote for him as well. At this point you’re basically choosing between 2 evils every election, the borderline nazi evil and the complacent evil. Either one is not getting things done the way they should and maybe a solid 3rd candidate could change that.

I really wish Bernie would enter the presidential as an independent. Not necessarily as the presidential pick but maybe as VP, given his age. Although if you see how the annoying orange has been doing recently I think Bernie could take over even in 4 years from now and be better.

Regardless of the practicality of enforcing this I think it’s a good idea. Most social media is very predatory and do not contribute in any positive way to a child that’s growing up. I’ve seen what especially TikTok does to a young kids brain, it’s almost like it’s reprogrammed to not have any focus and the addictive part of it makes them always want more TikTok.

Maybe this will finally get those privileged boomers that voted the annoying orange in off their asses. Although I also think a lot of them probably don’t get many visitors anymore since they’re so extremely Maga…

It’s also interesting when they say “I don’t watch the news or keep up with politics, it all doesn’t matter anyway” only to then complain when it does start to matter for them. I haven’t heard them about the whole healthcare price increases shenanigans yet but I’m sure it’ll hit them sometime soon. I agree that the news can be depressing at times but overall it’s better to be occassionally depressed on up-to-date on things then to be ignorant. I saw a video that perfectly illustrated this the other day, this one about Bernie Sanders visiting Virginia. So many people there were saying “Now that I’m actually listening to him he’s a really nice and sensible guy”. Drives me insane.

Most of the people I talked to about it when I visited my in-laws in Michigan a week ago were saying that they thought people on SNAP were people that couldn’t be bothered to work… So not everyone has gotten the message yet. Tbf their county is definitely a very red one but it still amazed me how sheltered they were from things. I somehow know more about US politics as a Dutchie then they do. They had no idea that most SNAP recipients are people working minimum wage jobs that can’t get by otherwise due to minimum wage being so little.
Hell, they didn’t even know what the no kings protest was about…

I fully agree with you. There’s a reason why people that are terminally online often have pretty extreme ideas.
It really feels like it’s getting more and more difficult to have a good discussion where you can disagree on something but still talk to each other about it. People are in their echo chambers and the dissonance of that to the opinion of someone else is so large that they can’t do anything but call it fake or wrong.

I guess it might be about time to finally cancel my YouTube premium over this. I already was a bit on the fence after they bumped up the price, this might be the final straw. There’s already plenty of misinformation on the platform as is, no need to let even more proven spreaders on there.

As a Dutch person, I’m very glad we’ve made this decision. After reading about Ireland doing the same I didn’t think we would but I’m glad that we did and also that we’ve decided on this somewhat early instead of waiting to see what the “bigger” countries are doing like we usually do with these things.
Unfortunately it seems that evil has a way of sticking around for way longer then you’d expect, kinda like weeds in your garden.

I’m glad they’re giving him all the “words of strong disapproval” before doing nothing about it and letting him do whatever he wants. Good stuff…

Or, get this: make it so people don’t take the car. Most of the accidents that involve serious injury or death involve cars or some other fast, motorized vehicle. Why not make more bike and pedestrian infrastructure? I also live in the Netherlands and even here I’d say there are very different approaches based on which city/town you’re in. I really wish they’d make my city more accessible with public transport, there are certain routes where taking public transport to another part of town takes almost 2-3 times as long as taking a car. Why is that? Why not fund public transport and non-motorized traffic infrastructure even more?
I agree, I think it’s all about affordability and ease of use. If they can sell them for a nice price (somewhere around the price of a PS5 pro) and they’re easy to use I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t sell. Hell, I might even buy one myself. I have a very old gaming pc (close to 10 years old now) and even though I’ve replaced some parts over the years (ram, GPU, storage), the core of it is still very outdated and it might almost be cheaper to switch to something like this then to upgrade my existing pc.
