If the site is GDPR-compliant, they are not allowed to set any cookies until you click the accept button. But, a ton of sites and ad agencies are not. For example, Russians commonly just put a “we tracking you, deal with it. [OK]” banner, thinking they are funny, when it’s clearly illegal even by Russian law, but they are shielded from it by responsible officials incompetence. Same story in the US, I believe.

Well, as a medical student she was quite busy, especially given that she was also working part-time to support herself coming from a different city with barely any support from her parents. So, getting an appointment with her at said work was a rare opportunity to get a little bit extra time together. Her job was as a laser hair removal specialist, and there are only so many places you can get your hair removed from. Yet another reminder that all the mentions of Dunning-Kruger are a better display of it’s perceived effect than the original study ever was. I used to run an LTE-enabled nettop instead of a phone during the app-only craze, can’t get any worse than that. Recently removed bank apps, taxi, delivery, maps, youtube, email and all social media apps off my phone in favour of using websites instead. They’re still a bit of an afterthought compared to apps so the experience is a bit clunky, but the option is available for most things nowadays.

It’s still text with some formatting underneath, though, just like HTML. Actually, in HTML we already have it in form of contenteditable attribute. You can straight up paste images and move other html elements into elements with it. I just checked, you can even do this with full on canvas elements and animated webgl views if you wanted to for some reason, though the code must be adjusted to account for it. I have yet to see it being useful and not a liability, though.
