  • I had issues with mine, nothing was sticking to it causing 100% failures. I forgot where I read it but I ended up scrubbing it good with one of those slightly abrasive green pads in warm dawn dish soap, drying it with a clean microfiber cloth and putting it on the bed with the heat set to 60c for a few minutes. It now works extremely well with pla or petg, I just wipe it down with a bit of 90% alcohol between prints. Never had any issues with the smooth and satin sheets.

  • The majority of the farms around me are cash crops, not providing food for survival. I’m in central California and all I see here is almonds, pistachios, tomatoes and cows. We need to get rid of these since it’s just wasted space that’s doomed to fail as it’s using up valuable resources to profit the few that own them.

We have one acre and we grow a variety of different veggies, trying to grow with sustainable methods like regenerative farming practices. We trade with other like minded people and my wife donates excess to the local church to help feed the poor. We need more people doing this and less of the big corporate farmers lining their pockets while everyone else suffers.

    Screw these bailouts

  • No debt but still have pile of unopened letters. It’s a huge relief when I finally tackle them and realize it’s mostly just junk mail. Only to find it was pile from last year and this year’s pile was on the other side of the desk to be anxiously avoided until I have the willpower to do it again in a few months. Then I remember that’s how I got badly in debt in the first place.

It gets easier. Then harder! Then I find sonething new to dive into and forget all about it again

  • I’ll chime in as someone who was on BBS scene back in the early 90s. Back then, the internet was a godsend for a nerd (unaware of being on the spectrum) like me since I was able to connect with like minded people around the globe, reading and sharing conversations that would not exist in real life since I was stuck in a small town. It was a place of learning and acceptance since in real life I couldn’t connect with my peers in school and my awkward social gatherings. The majority of online interactions were positive and I was able to learn from those experiences, which looking back helped me grow as an individual.

Fast forward to today, the majority of internet is garbage. The bane of it is unhinged social media and it’s AI moderated crap coupled with corporate interests to profit off of everything. Advertising is toxically being forced fed everywhere, as are unrealistic expectations for every aspect of life for young people to consume. There are very few places to go that offer those experiences like I had in those days past. Watching what today’s kids and teens are subjected to break my heart as the majority are being exposed to the worst of humanity.

I think without some sort of internet revolution and regulation of the crap, it’s only getting worse… Especially when reports like this have been more prominent lately. Sad to see the (d)evolution of something like the internet experience go on how it’s been going. I really hope something changes or stories like this are going to be more mainstream and the situation will be taken out of context for the profiteering corporate class. Unfortunately the clowns running this country (USA) have no concept of what is really going on and only see profit in corrupt bribery. I’m thankful for communities like Lemmy but it’s only a matter of time before this goes to shit like everything else before it.

  • I remember reading articles about the people ending up with bad pneumonia from those black market weed vapes because they were vaping actual oil, which coating your lungs is deadly. I don’t think anyone actually got popcorn lung, which was from the diacetyl in the custard flavored vapes. The history of that was from using that chemical in the fake butter popcorn factories, hence popcorn lung. It was a buzzword they loved throwing around to try and get people off the deadly vapes. Those days are behind me now, they helped me and countless friends off the real smokes.

  • There has always been horrible reporting by the media when it comes to the vape industry. I’m interpreting that caption written like that to subconsciously influence perception of anything ‘pod’ to be bad. Years ago when I still vaped, I can’t remember how many people would tell me about how I was messing up my lungs and going to get popcorn lung when all media was reporting about those illegal weed vapes filled with vitamin e oil. I blame big tobacco for all these hit pieces…

Now talking about these cheap disposable vapes, I for one think they should be banned as they are all super wasteful with all that plastic and lithium batteries while who knows what is in them.

  • Gen 'Xer here too. Most, if not all of my social circle are voting for Trump too. I am mirroring you in saying that I also shared the same life experience as them. What I’m noticing with all social media which is a major part of all our lives is that its a giant echo camber for both sides. Here on lemmy and reddit (yes I know, but I still check in there) we are all leaning left and denouncing him. Meanwhile on the Meta and Twitter I see everyone clamoring about him bring their savior and how evil and wretched Harris and the libs are. Both sides are surprised how close this race is. I see the media profiting on all this chaos and nonsense. We need to fight to get the media out of the control of all these oligarchs, be-it US or foreign interference centers. I think and hope that more and more people are realizing this and this is going to be the start of class warfare. Sad thing is they got all us have-nots battling each other instead of them. So hard to talk with the cultists and veer them away from the Kool aid going around. It’s sad and it’s going to get dark one way or another.

Anyway preach on and don’t give up.
