Programming@programming.dev•AI will reduce programming jobs a lot, it's madness to deny it
131·2 days agoIt’s a problem when people just generate the code, see if it runs, maybe test it once or twice, and… That’s it.
Same issue with people blindly copying Stack Overflow and other code snippets on the web.
Like you say, the value we bring is in our review and understanding of the code, as well as our ability to make judgements on things like architecture.

8·4 days agoI was always so confused as a child, after studying this and yet the older Christians I knew didn’t do this. “Those people brought it on themselves/deserved it.”
I’m not confused any more, just mad.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Halloween Consolidation To Rich Neighborhoods SucksEnglish
1·5 days agoGood point, I have only lived in a few apartments with an exterior light I could control. (Door opened directly outside, no breezeway/interior hallway.) But if you’re on foot and in close proximity anyway, I would still imagine a sign/wreath/anything else you could hang or tape up would be a satisfactory indicator.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Halloween Consolidation To Rich Neighborhoods SucksEnglish
4·5 days agoVery frustrating, but my decidedly not rich neighborhood was pretty great this year. But I live in a house.
What I don’t understand is why aren’t apartments more hopping with trick or treaters? Isn’t having more households closer together MORE conducive to getting more candy? And better for being able to hang with some neighbors?
I have question marks over my head. Time to get my landline phone that is directly wired to IKEA.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has Trick-or-Treating died in your area, and what is to blame?
7·7 days agoMy area was full of trick or treaters. I saw more homemade costumes. Had some teens in the spirit, lots of adults, too. My kid got to hang out with some friends and trick or treat.
However, I didn’t dress up this year. Too much to do. My daughter’s costume was all stuff we already had. Didn’t decorate because, again, too much to do.

2·7 days agoMan, I am crushed by how badly my local Qdoba prepares their proteins. It’s not like that at other Qdobas.

Fucking spot on. I feel this way about most of my disorders, except ASD. My ASD is a part of me, though it does have its downsides.
The ADHD is the most significant, though. If I could just remove this anchor from my brain, my quality of life would skyrocket. I don’t find it a “superpower” at all. I am not exaggerating when I say that it has stolen my childhood and early adulthood, and from the outside it looks like laziness or a lack of discipline. Solidarity.
