Yeah, if you configure the laptop on Dells website, you can choose Ubuntu for some models.
I would love to see more Linux notebooks on third party online shops and offline stores. Not just from Dell, but also other vendors.
In my whole life, I never saw a Linux notebook in any local store. I’m living in Germany, so the situation might be different somewhere else, but I asume it’s the same in whole Europe and north America.
Dell is (or was?) already selling laptops with Ubuntu. They have experience with it. They should put it on more machines and sell them for 100$ less. If people don’t want Windows 11, offer them alternatives!

I would bet against this. I think people who buy a steam machine (and same for steam deck) will know what they get into.
And the device is focused on gaming and the games will probably run worse on that hardware if one installs Windows. Therefore I think that people who want to use Windows will not buy a steam machine.
But maybe time will proof me wrong.
I never hated my job. Sure, there were times where I wasn’t that motivated and I probably a few days, where I didn’t like to go to the office. But ai never hated it during the nearly 20 years I worked in this field. It is not ok to hate your job and most people don’t. Hate is a very strong feeling.

If you buy a new computer, you have basically the choice between MacOS and Windows. And if they do not want a Mac or are not able to afford it, the only only Windows.
Sure, you can buy computers with pre-installed Linux, but it’s hard to find.
Now, with Hardware not supporting Windows 11 anymore, more people switch to Linux, but it’s still a small amount. And many people do not know how to install linux. It’s relativ easy these days on older hardware, but if one buys a brand new computer, there are often still problems with hardware that is not yet supported out of the box in Linux.
I think, consumers should have the right of choice for an OS at the moment they buy a computer. There should be the option to have Windows, a Linux distribution or no OS installed.

I think Gnome is the most beautyful Desktop out there. But it’s UX drives me crazy. I tried it a few times but never could get used to it. I always needed extensions to customize it to my needs. But that’s also what I want to avoid because extensions might break in the future. Therefore, Gnome is simply not the right Desktop for me.
But I’m happy for everyone who likes to use Gnome. The great thing about Linux: We have a choice!

I just bought 12 month of Ultimate on eBay. I always did this in the past, because it’s cheaper than buying directly from Microsoft. So far, I made good experience with it.
The way it usually works is, that you get a few codes you need to redeem. I got three codes for 36 month of EA Play and then one code for Ultimate that is supposed to transform the EA Play subscription to 12 month Ultimate. But due to the the price hike, the subscription transformation changed as well and I did not get the 12 month.
I’m now in contact with the seller and he tries to find a solution. I want to have my 12 month Ultimate that he offered for the price. But it also sucks for the seller. Seems like we both didn’t know. He basically sold it to cheap. I paid 150€ for 12 month Ultimate and he just now increased the price to 200€.
The new prices are insane! 150€ a year is already my upper limit. I’m not gonna pay 200€ or even more a year. I think, if my new subscription is over, I will not extend it. I like the idea of Game Pass, but that’s to much money.
The thing is I really like Game Consoles. I want to play in front of my TV. I wish, Steam would make another Steam Machine with Steam OS. I do want an all in one solution. The last thing I want is a gaming PC. I hope, alternatives to Xbox Consoles and Playstation come up.
I know, I could also use the XBox without GamePass, but I do play online something and it would be nice to get away from subscriptions completly.
I’m looking for a NAS and Synology was on the top of my list. But their new models only support Synology HDDs. That is already a huge red flag. And now that. Feels like Synology really doesn’t care about their customers…
I might go with a self build solution.

Same here. I really like it and bought the Premium version already to support the developer. It’s not on the same level of customization and not as feature rich as Nova, but it’s quite nice. And it’s under active development.
