I think people who spend a lot of time focussing on their devices find it easy to piggyback that focus onto something else.

The value of their possessions and the repair value of their home had increased but they hadn’t increased the level of insurance coverage to match. Despite suffering total losses, many have been unable to afford to rebuild.

This has been in the back of my mind seeing the LA fires. This is just the beginning. It will take decades for some of these people to re establish.
