Like a tourist at the beach trying to plant an umbrella in the sand.
This should be higher. Delete Yourself! is an amazing album.

Obsolete by Fear Factory
It’s a concept album that involves fighting against a totalitarian police state that subjugates humans to the machines they created.
It also has an awesome “Cars” cover for whenever you’re feeling good.
This one is perfect, from first to last track.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What kind of job can you never imagine yourself doing?
17·6 days agoLaw enforcement. I was already in law enforcement and I’ll never do it again. It felt like I was a babysitter for idiots: breaking up fights, handling drunk people, de-escalating domestic issues, etc. Working on the border is shit, too. I’d never want to be in a situation where I have to deal with migrants at the behest of the government.

52·8 days agoAn empty threat that’ll hurt us more than them. That’s like an ex threatening to get rid of her own dog.
Yup, but luckily that’s for the bundle, though that’s not showing up here.
Okay, that’s weird. I have Silent Hill 2, so maybe that’s why the bundle didn’t show at first. I clicked on it and I saw the bundle with the correct pricing. Not a typo, but confusing error.
Absolutely. I tend to go for the deep discounts for games I’d forgotten about. I picked up The Surge and The Surge 2 for $5 and I’m pretty damn happy with them right now.

49·25 days agoThe article’s comments section is disheartening, but predictable. It’s the same “Don’t use my tax dollars for your liberal agenda” bullshit. No critical thinking. Just parroting propaganda.

5·1 month agoWe have a reliable handgun and some other weapons in the house. We could use some good OC spray, though, like the kind that shoots 3-10 ft. I hope I can buy those as a civilian. I might still have a spare handcuff key, too. Gotta check my military gear.

221·1 month agoThanks for the reasonable advice. We have all our paperwork in one place. I can see about getting passports in order. I’ve heard about passport ID cards, too. I’d like to have those readily available. Redundancy is helpful.
I have friends who can take care of the pets, and we have family very close by. I’ll talk to friends on my block who can watch our kids in case something happens.

Keep your life circle as small and simple as possible. What I mean by that is focus on what and who you care about, and do what you can to focus on them.
When I was stationed overseas, our chain of command relaxed a bit. We bonded on a more personal level. We took care of each other and rolled with the punches when there was little we could do about our situation. In a way, life became less complicated because our focus wasn’t split between many things.
If you’re in the US, I’m sorry that the things I dealt with in the military are now things that you have to consider.
Check on your family. Keep safe as best you can. Check on your neighbors. Have strength in numbers. Plan ahead.
And if you’re like me, stop doom scrolling before bed.
