Yeah. AA batteries suck though! I’d be happy if they used 14500 cells or something. but the form factor was probably the issue, the controller is a chonk in the middle already with the flat battery pack

I think the point being made was that the enzyme used to break down cellulose is only made by bacteria, whereas the enzymes used to break down carbs, fats, and proteins are produced by the pancreas. Digestion is complicated though, teeth and stomach acid are also digesting in a way so it’s all an oversimplification

not be held back by trying to shoehorn modern software on retro computing devices.
So I admit that I am just a user and have basically no idea what goes on behind the scenes in development, but for me, shoehorning stuff into retro devices is kind of a defining feature of Linux. It runs on just about everything, full stop. I suppose that can be a blessing and a curse, but it does make me a little sad especially in the context of this rust fever where everyone seems to think that this one thing will magically solve all the problems. Seems a bit short-sighted to me. Also because I thought I’d move to Debian since Ubuntu has been forcing snaps onto me…
their next article should be “how to maintain support of a fairphone 101” because I think they desperately need a refresher
I haven’t had a great experience with my fairphone 4. app/phone crashes, ghost touching, now they announced that they’re skipping support for Android 14, technical support has also been rather unresponsive. to top it off, they are usually very late with their security patches and apparently their verified boot implementation is horrible, they use the aosp test keys (which are publicly available) to cryptographically sign their firmware, which completely negates the point of the thing. I guess that’s on par with the software support in general…
so yeah, can’t recommend the company as is unfortunately 😕

I’ve had problems with ghost touches on my fp4. customer service just doesn’t respond. I also get weird app crashes. can’t recommend the company like this. long term support was the whole point!!

I will be reporting this to the American Association Against Acronym Abuse!
what’s the difference between real estate management and landlording?

the sauna picture was a weird example though…

That headline is so stupid that I refuse to read the article

my grandfather (polish) was talking to my cousin’s boyfriend at the time (german) in english. the poor guy was trying to make a good impression so he was really going the extra mile. it took about 10 minutes for them to realize one was talking about chess, and the other about jazz.
i feel personally attacked. brilliant

Hot-swappable battery meaning without turning off the device?! Lol I’ve never seen that 😉 I get what you’re saying though, but from what I’ve seen the battery is replaceable! It’s retained with a screw but that’s not a deal breaker imo. Using a standardized form factor would have been even cooler, but I think that would’ve been very difficult for space reasons
