Technology@lemmy.world•RAM is so expensive, Samsung won't even sell it to SamsungEnglish
2·7 days agoYeah, but that was a bundle promo price offer. I essentially got a free AM5 board and still paid less than the GPU sold separately. Classic Newegg dumping unsold merch. What sucks is you can’t return one without the other, even with an RMA.

12·7 days agoIt’s insane. Back then I still had to deal with GPU prices and availability. I had to buy the 9070xt in a MOBO bundle that I’ll never use and was cheaper than buying alone at the time. The same GPU now is $50 US less than what I paid for then so it was a pretty good price considering.

791·7 days agoSo glad I built my computer earlier this year. RAM prices now are triple what I paid for.
You’re right. They “work” 24hrs a day.

Here’s my obligatory Fuck You to ink jet printers and cartridges.
A few months ago I finally got a Brother b/w multi function laser printer and not having to refill Magenta or Black regularly is no longer, and my mind is at peace.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Man in Taiwan somehow gets 8cm by 6cm ceramic cup in bottom, claims it got there 'by accident'English
15·15 days agoA doctor at the hospital pointed out that while inserting foreign objects into the bottom was not unheard of, they can cause immense damage to internal organs and be fatal.
These objects include baseballs, vibrators and coconuts, and could be inserted for stimulation or out of curiosity.
Coconuts?

News@lemmy.world•Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it’s costing the economy
3·16 days agoI’m still on my iPhone 12 Pro (most up to date currently on the market is 17 pro). Updated from a 10 but probably didn’t need to (someone wanted my soon to be old phone). Upgraded to 10 from a 6 Plus only because I broke the camera. I think the last time I was on 1-2 year update cycle was around iPhone 5.
For me, I think once storage got to 128+ (iphone 6 onward), it became easier to hold on to the phone since storage didn’t feel as limiting. Like I can take pictures and pretty much not have to delete anything to make room to use the phone/camera.

1·18 days agoYou should get one of those Japanese exfoliating washcloths. They’re long enough to get your back easily.
Naw. As with anything, once adults start going 6 7 the younglings will abandon it as if it were Plague.

Cooking @lemmy.world•What's an unusual ingredient, spice, or food item that you can't live without?
1·25 days agoBonito flakes.
Aside from normal use in Asian cuisine, I like to grind it to a fine powder to add extra flavor to foods. Add to ramen, rice, soup, whatever. Grind it as is, or flavor it with soy sauce and/or sugar and bake till dry then grind. Make your own furikake (soy sauce, sugar, nori, sesame seeds, etc). Both cats and dogs love eating it too (as is, not ground).
Just remember its price to volume ratio when using in ground form :D
It’s a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake…

Technology@lemmy.world•God ****** dammit, here we go againEnglish
5·1 month agoThe breach occurred in April 2025.
During 2025, the threat-intelligence firm Synthient aggregated 2 billion unique email addresses disclosed in credential-stuffing lists found across multiple malicious internet sources. Comprised of email addresses and passwords from previous data breaches, these lists are used by attackers to compromise other, unrelated accounts of victims who have reused their passwords. The data also included 1.3 billion unique passwords, which are now searchable in Pwned Passwords. Working to turn breached data into awareness, Synthient partnered with HIBP to help victims of cybercrime understand their exposure.
This was added to Have I Been Pwned on Nov 6

You don’t even have to do that to get served foreign ads. If you search on country specific search sites long enough, it’ll eventually bleed over to your native feed.
