movies@piefed.social•Batman star Robert Pattinson finally confirms Dune 3 casting and reflects on filming the sequel in the desert: "It was so hot… I did not have a single functioning brain cell"English
3·2 days agoYou should check out pretty much all his movies but Twilight and Harry Potter. Great actor who catches shit for being a young person who signed up to make a bunch of money on a popular franchise and jumpstart his career.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why did you delete your post after getting an answer?English
11·2 days agoShouldn’t be asking on the fediverse at all, even if you delete a post there is zero presumption of privacy on the fediverse. It’s not at all designed for that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why did you delete your post after getting an answer?English
13·2 days agoThat’s actually a moot point on Lemmy as it only guarantees regular users lose convenient access. And there is ZERO presumption of privacy everywhere on the fediverse. The system is not designed for that, even when it comes to deleted posts.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My 97-year-old great-grandma once said, “In my youth, being a mistress was more advantageous than being a wife for a woman.” How factual do you think this statement is for that time period?English
2·3 days agoIn the US that changed in the 1970s if I recall correctly.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What job or profession can you admit that you're just not cut out for?English
1·3 days agoWhat you described is why modern police departments restrict or ban high speed chases. They are entirely unsafe for the community and because of adrenaline result in far more shootings of suspects.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do trans people like to be noticed?English
851·3 days agoI am not trans myself, but I have a trans daughter. In my experience trans people do not want to be treated any differently than you would treat anyone else. I would especially not make reference to their transition in public, ever. If they are a close friend or family member who discusses such things with you in private that might be a different story. But ultimately pointing out their differences or that you notice their differences or patronizing them in any way will only be felt negatively.
TL;DR, don’t say anything to a trans person you wouldn’t say to a CIS person. The kindest thing you can do is treat them like everyone else.
It only whispers? Youngin.

Technology@lemmy.zip•Microsoft CEO says the company doesn't have enough electricity to install all the AI GPUs in its inventory - 'you may actually have a bunch of chips sitting in inventory that I can’t plug in'English
8·3 days agoChips that are really only competitive for a year are sitting on shelves. Good thing they reduced consumer GPU capacity to make these. The rest of us might be paying reasonable prices otherwise.
Edit: Just another reminder that capitalism only works when all actors are behaving rationally. There is nothing rational about what’s going on in this market right now.
