Also tall guy here. Realize that most back pain is actually inflammation. Yes, I have some blown discs in my lower back and I used to have to get shots in them to reduce the swelling. Manage your inflammation and you will have fewer troubles. Of course, you have to stop lifting those heavy things in a stupid way.

3·25 days agoSalesman at the door button and routine exported to HomeKit. My doorbell camera shows a PiP of a person detection on my AppleTV. If I say “Siri salesman at the door” then HA will briefly turn on the flowerbed sprinkler zone to chase it away. Never gets old.
Do you know if this is widely available at Whole Foods or is it limited to the Virginia area?
Never heard of Blanchard’s. You local to them? I hit their website and they have some interesting choices but I haven’t mail-ordered coffee since back when Peets was good. Have you tried any of their other varieties? I was especially intrigued by “Dark as Dark”. Worth an order?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Really tall people see others differently. For example, they see more of others' heads and less of others' bodies. They also see more of the background.
18·30 days agoI’m only 6’4", male. My experience is that I need to slouch in the presence of normies so as not to be to intimidating. I am weirded out by people who tower over me because that is unexpected and anyone that tall doesn’t try to fit in - they just tower over all.

40·1 month agoWhat sane firm would hire anyone who stays on to toe the line being fed out by this Justice Department? She could immediately about face and start supporting victims who have been disappeared…not much money in it but you can sleep at night.

Find out where the larvae are thriving: do you have natural fiber rugs or animal pelts or lots of pet/human hair concentrated anywhere? Is there by any chance horsehair plaster in your house? The larvae feed on keratin (in hair) and the adults leave to find dried veg matter.

69·1 month agolol…asking the judge to hold her in contempt so she could grab a few hours of sleep for a change. For me that would be a sign that I’m not going to work there any longer. She should get out and when they can’t find anyone to argue the government’s side justice will then prevail.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why aren't tall people also wider?
15·3 months agoOk, so…tall person here - as I grew into my 6’4" frame I got progressively wider as well. In my later days (kinda old now) my width has increased unproprtionally to my stagnated growth in height. Damn! You just fat shamed me without meaning to! Uncool, dude!!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which gift from a past Christmas do you still use regularly and enjoy?
7·3 months agoWe normally don’t gift unless an excellent idea comes up. We were struggling with our ice maker not keeping up (Ice water constantly, cocktails in the evening, etc) and my wife got me a countertop nugget ice maker (chewy ice). It is no good for daily ice water which needs big cubes to melt slowly but I turn that sucker on every day a 3PM and my evening drinks are much improved!

860·3 months agoDo you waffle about before taking a slipper to the roach that snuck in under your door-jamb? No, you smash that repugnant shit and scoop it up with a piece of junk mail to toss it in the toilet. That sentient bug is just not food to you. The fact that a lobster is food does not make it a more elevated being.

I now follow the rules. Speeding, parking, etc. I am never going to be late to something. It’s honestly just easier if you don’t make waves.
