6·2 days agoThe interfaces are a bit basic, sure, but everything seems to be 2 clicks away at most, and the design language is pretty clear… What’s your issues exactly?
I sometimes wish for a bit more variety in the android TV interface (maybe a large “recently added” carousel that also shows short descriptions, or something), but I’ve never had anyone have any issues navigating and using the UI.
Boring, but functional.

I do get it, esp. because it significantly reduces development efforts required. I’ve just personally never liked them, and I suspect I’m not alone in this.
However, there are native applications that could be used instead, such as the desktop app Dino, which is compatible with Movim’s group video calls. Unfortunately it is not yet able to screenshare.
Ah, that’s good to know, thank you!

1·2 days agoReally cool project. Unfortunately, in this day and age, not having a desktop and mobile app is really hard to sell. PWAs are just not the same.
Also, curious: hie compatible is this actually with the rest of the XMPP ecosystem? From the architecture description, movin sits between its frontend and an xmpp server. But if another user connects to that same xmpp server from a non-movin client, how mich are they able to see and do?

778·8 days agoWhat a clown. In what world do you require an LLM to check for duplicate pictures??
I mean, good on him for realizing that LLMs are dogshit. But still.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How'd you argue against a person who says rich people are needed to provide jobs to the poor?

If jobs are necessary self-evidently, they do not require rich people to exist or get done.

Privacy@programming.dev•Alright, how do you all handle your photos? Self-hosted Immich, Hetzner Nextcloud, Ente or Zeitkapsl?
3·11 days agoI mean… Depends on your threat model. Hetzner is a very reputable German hoster. The only way someone is going to try and read and puzzle together memory dumps is if you’re under investigation for something seriously heinous.
Shutting the VPS down also solves this.
But really, this is a general problem with every “someone else’s computer” solution.
E2EE still nice though, wish Immich had it.

2·11 days agoLUKS isn’t cumbersome, you should really enable it on nearly every Linux system.
Anyways, what do you mean “allowed”?
I have a Hetzner root server set up this way btw, have to ssh in to decrypt the zfs pool before boot.
Do note though, this does not protect from an attacker with physical access reading memory.
Bullet I assume
