6·11 个月前This. LineageOS on any device that supports it immediately improves said device x10.
I have an old as hell Galaxy tablet that had slowed down to a crawl after a few years. With LineageOS it’s usable again.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you guys read programming books? How do you make the most out of it?English
1·11 个月前If you review something every day you are more likely to remember it every day. Whatever I’ve actively recalled for an extended period is up there tumbling around the mind.

3·11 个月前Anki for practicing recall and a lot of practice. Tons of daily practice. Build as many things as you can. Build for fun. Build to use the tools given by the language. Build unoptimized slop to experience first hand why it’s normally not done.
I rely on Anki heavily so that the book content sticks around in my head. Do it long enough and you’ll be able to recall entire books bit by bit.
Identify the gaps in your knowledge and plug em with books and courses. Reading books without practicing recall and working on your own projects might be a waste of time. I personally don’t think it is if it’s fun.

Fiber. Truly, up your fiber intake. The only time it won’t stain and linger is when it gathers in on itself.

My most played game over the last few years has been a timer I use to study for my statistics degree. With the steamdeck, I find myself hopping from game to game just to see how my oldies run. I might play 20 hours a week across 20 different games. Then do a 9-5 stint with the pomo timer on to do get projects going.
If you have ADHD The Legend of Pomodoro is not the cure but it makes getting difficult things done manageable. It’s pretty much an idler.

This is a YMMV situation. I had Gentoo running on a minipc for a while and it never had any random issues pop up. Any screw up was fully traceable to configuration and entirely my fault. It was kinda funny. Hope your server stays healthy.
Right!? Almost everything I need is one dnf command away with minimal setup on my part.
I think I’ve put fedora on at least 4 personal systems and it has never caused an issue. It’s so smooth it’s boring in the best way. Switched to it for daily computing about 4 years ago. I use a minipc as a media server with Arch and turning it on it’s exciting. Just this fucking morning the default configuration decided that my main audio device was a microphone. Lovely. So flexible.

3·2 年前About a month ago Windows 11 started forcing ads for apps and services I didn’t need. Immediately installed a popular Linux distribution to have some peace of mind. There’s every flavor of desktop out there. I picked one for work and games (pop_os). It’s out of my way most of the time and it’s not trying to sell me anything. I recommend it, specially, if you’re someone that doesn’t fiddle with settings too much, it just work.

Don’t. I used to hike around the southern states for fun. Currently residing in one. The border patrol goons are just headhunting to fill quotas now. Anybody is game. I myself am planning my move out of country right now. Even the magats are not safe and are willing to sacrifice themselves for their hateful ideals.
