The farther you scroll, the more laggy and freezey it gets. Really really quickly (like after 5 minutes of scrolling), I get a “couldn’t retrieve posts API error” and it’s so laggy it’s about .5 fps

The UI has become generally laggy and unresponsive for me as well. During scrolling, but also sometimes when trying to compose a reply.

I’m very happy with the Connect app otherwise but something must have broken recently.

It’s not new behavior for me. I have always hit a wall after scrolling for a little while. I took out as a sign to stop scrolling.

Me too, but usually after like half an hour or so. This happens super quick now.

And it also gives a specific API error where before it just wouldn’t scroll anymore

The post API errors were fixed a while back so I’m wondering if maybe you’re on an earlier version. I’m on v1.0.314 and I haven’t seen this particular issue. If you are on 314, can you post a bug report? To do that, go into Settings and tap on the three dots in the top right, then on Report bug. You can submit that for a new post or copy it and post it here as a reply.

            1.0.314

So yes still getting the API bugs on this version. This is by far the best Lemmy app so just trying to make better for everyone.

Listen it’s Christmas and I’m drunk so this let you know is best I can do. After about 5-10 mins of scrolling I get some API error, I don’t THINK there’s a code associated but if there is I’ll let you know next I see it. And super laggy freezy the farther it goes. What does seem to be interesting is I scrolled super quick for a while and that error didn’t pop when it usually would so I didn’t think it’s amount of posts loaded or something. Armchair opinion. Good luck you are my favorite app

FYI, I’m not the dev. But it seems a lot of people have this issue so I’m sure the dev will try to fix it as soon as they can.

They fixed the “page breaks whenever you edit a comment” bug so I’m happy, even with the huge ugly banner at the top of each page

Hi, is this still happening for you on v316? And does “couldn’t retrieve posts API error” seem to occur around the same spot? Cheers!

Sorry for late reply, holiday stuff, but the API error has seemed to stop now, in my limited scrolling here since, but the lag is still there. A little better, but still there. It never occured around the same posts, it just seemed like a “welp you’ve scrolled enough go outside” thing lol. I would like to doom scroll for much longer than the app deems appropriate. Imagine what you think is healthy and then add like, 2 hours to it.

I yave two issues that are bugging me rn:

    • Votes on at least my own content do not update in the app.

    • Editing a comment multiple times leaves an old draft in the field from before any previous edits.

Other than that, it’s been fine.

Both of those issues have been fixed in a previous beta build. If you’re not getting the update in the app store you may want to try leaving and rejoining the beta. If you’re not on the beta and want to join, you can do so on Connect’s app store page.
