I wonder why so many people opt for the color ink printers when the laser printers just complain a lot less. How many people really need to print in color bad enough to deal with ink jet printers?

I have this dream of being able to bike down any road without thinking about getting hit by a car. I could take the direct route to the grocery store. I could go at night.

82·3 days agoRoundabouts can work great in some areas. A large downside to them is their large footprint, you need a lot of space to fit one in. Because of that you find them more in rural/city outskirt areas with lower volume traffic, just because there is more area to fit them in. There are 2 or 3 intersections in my town that desperately need them, but the rest of the lights are just fine. You can’t really put roundabouts in a lot of downtown areas. One thing I really like about them is that they deter speeding. Putting them near school areas close to each other will make the drivers slow down in a way that green lights just don’t.
Yeah. 4 sounds about right…

25·5 days agoI highly doubt its that uncommon to be in your situation. Likely your phone has picked up on something and is serving you targeted ads, but the ad industry has decided that those ads should target only women for some reason. You gotta open a dialogue with you wife if you can, if you can’t you might need outside help.
Fortunately ground turkey still makes decent chilli.

63·6 days agoRyan Cohen is very strange and uncomfortable.
Public perception of game stop is already poor and he is not helping that.
A few quarters of profitability is hardly enough to go on if you are trying to measure long term stability.
Gamestop revenue has never recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
Personally, if I am investing in a company, I am doing it because I believe in their mission for some reason. Maybe they are vital to the community. Maybe they are doing things in a way that is more ethical than their competition. Gamestop sells cheap plastic shit, I cannot make myself believe in that.
Frankly the whole idea of investing in a company to make personal profit out of it is cynical and rooted in exploitive capitalistic thinking.

206·6 days agoThat is still only $29 billion and somehow I don’t think the CEO is gonna raise another $27 billion from selling socks and knickknacks. Kinda just sounds like inserting a middleman to angle at more profit. I would rather not pay a surcharge for eBay auctions, even if it adds some kind of quality assurance. His explanation of the acquisition just seems like more bullshit.
Edit: I wonder how many bag holders from the memestock era are viewing this as their salvation.

1·7 days agoYeah you are right. The end of the article uses japan as an example to show that demographic collapse might not actually be a real problem. It is a very useful narrative tool of the far right though.
I hit my head a lot as a kid. I periodically experience what I assume is a form of epilepsy (no my doctor has not been any help.) It can happen at any moment, even while I am asleep. It starts very suddenly and feels surreal, like dejavu. That feeling subsides (sometimes i get flashes of dreams I have had) and is replaced by nausea, sometimes enough to make me puke. Afterwards, I tend to be mildly confused and my working memory is hindered. I have a hard time remembering what day or season it is and what the structure of my day is sposed to be. Its very annoying and I don’t believe I could get to the bottom of it without them scanning my brain while it occurs.

Yeah, from this angle it looks like the hose might not be seated all the way into the collar.
