Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd do?

1·12 天前Start strategically: just buy your way into overturning money in politics. Fire with fire baby!!!

Also, we have a great deal on US rust belt states, if you’re interested…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Within a religious narrative of your choice, what are some attacks humanity could engage in to break the system?
51·30 天前Get in the Catholic Church. Bribe, cheat and blackmail my way into being a bishop. Borgia my way into the papacy. Surround myself with loyalists and on my first Urbe et Orbi just be like: “Psych! ‘‘Twas all a big fat lie. God isn’t real and we’re all rapists!!!. FU all!!”
By then I have obviously put the entire Vatican archive on Wikileaks and signed the entirely of church land and property and property over to local NGOs.
Marxism as a hobby?

Just piggybacking on this thread: Is there any place to try out skydiving in or near Winnipeg?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How to I prove to someone that the U.S. moon landing wasn't staged?
151·1 个月前If someone is denying the moon landing, I doubt pointing out the mechanics of dust particles in low-g environments will do the trick.
The strongest evidence is the fact that modern equipment can see the actual tracks the A11 astronauts left while hiking and driving on the moon.
If that’s not enough, it’s probably best to drop the matter. You can’t use evidence to convince someone who does not want to be convinced.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can a reasonable person genuinely believe in ghosts?
5·1 个月前Well, we care. That’s why I asked. It’s just that some people are certain about they position on this and refuse to back it up.
And of course it’s fun, I’ll happily suspend belief for 90 minutes to allow me to be creeped out by a good ghost movie, but that ends when the credits start rolling.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can a reasonable person genuinely believe in ghosts?
8·1 个月前He’s wishy washy on the scientific method, not because he doesn’t understand it but because he believes it’s wrong (or at least incomplete)
We’ve spoken about this on several occasions and either his arguments make no sense or I’m genuinely too dumb to get them.

Serious question: what can we do about this?
